Discomfort

by jon laa on September 13th, 2009

I guess I never quite got use to eating expensive food and such. I can’t bring myself to eat at atas places that serves pretty food. Of course some food taste awesome in a way or another but it’s just the mood that makes me uncomfortable. It somewhat cramps my style that I’ve to watch my etiquette.

Did some major shopping today, bought a total of 12 tops/bottom on top of other stuff. And I bought like two tees on day one? Been keeping an eye out for gifts and it’s been amazing. There are plenty of things I would never look at if not because I am trying to find something for somebody else. It’s almost like trying to live another person’s life at that point in time.

Either way, everything is good but I am sick. Tien is going back to school for the morning tomorrow, which essentially leaves me time for rest which is what I really need.

Gonna try to find more formal wear, I think I need a more balance wardrobe? Besides, I am quite tired of wearing the same “style”. I like things to be easy and comfortable but I figured it can probably go beyond the typical tees, bermudas and slippers.

There was some sale going on and there wasn’t my size. Damn.

Looking at getting some accessories to dress up the bukit batok place too. Pity I haven’t been there before so I have no idea what I can get. I suppose I can get some stuff first. They really have pretty pillow cases and table pieces. I’m thinking of getting some cutlery, pretty ones, to go with the new house. Isn’t it a little boring to use the typical unglam ones?

Bed time, I don’t want to cough anymore!

Bangkok

I am back in bangkok already and am still not exactly excited. It’s been awesome so far, slight, non-compulsive, shopping is definitely a good start. Gonna go check out more tops later and I think I’ll be getting quite a number of jeans, I really like those I bought here the last time or rather those I was forced to buy.

Everybody has been comfortable with each other and I hope I am not being a distraction to their usual routine. Joe is sitting across me using his iphone while tien has gone to shower. I actually have my own room this time round, in joe’s place, because the air-con in tien’s room is down and tien is sharing room with his dad. In case you are wondering, joe’s and tien’s houses are a house apart but are connected to each other by a common walkway because their family own four consecutive houses.

Everything’s good here so far. I honestly believe thais have quality of life at the top of their priority list, not so much of career or wealth, which is really awesome. The perspective towards life and their lifestyle, interpersonal-relationships, are just bewildering.

The food is obviously awesome. I had shrimp-paste rice in a restaurant for lunch and it was nothing like thai express. Probably because of the shrimp paste and how the shrimps were prepared. Dinner was at some isolated eatery where we were the only customers for our entire stay there. Dinner was only 227 baht, which is slightly under $10, but awesome. Tien thinks the owners are probably people who once prepared food for the royalties or filthy rich people but have now retired. They are probably only interested to relax, take it easy and get by with life. It seems like it because they live upstairs and actually have a balcony that overlooks the street.

Tien is back, tatas!

Gah.

I am flying off to bangkok in 90 more minutes and I am barely excited, which is kinda strange given how much I loved the city - or the people I know from the city.

The team mates put together a chalet and it was great fun, I suppose. Not that I participated in their activities. I was feeling sick and ended up lying around for my entire stay there, which is not a lot of time given I reached only in the night. It’s pretty impressive how they manage to put it all up within two days, I was away on medical appointment when they did their planning. And it’s amazing how only one of us couldn’t make it. I actually enjoyed myself a lot there, by doing nothing, because the company they offer is somewhat of a completely different spectrum from what I have out of the island.

Everything’s kinda packed for me, in my opinion. The hunt of my netbook took quite some time and I was so exhausted the other night I felt like I was going to fall asleep before I reach home. Bought an asus eeepc, I’ve no idea which model I am running on but will get back on that later.

It’s a 1005HA.

By the way, they put me back into the team even though I was excused from most work. It’s kinda sad our time together has ended and we will probably be leaving to form other new teams in a week or two. Oh well.

Much love people.
